Wood Carved Art Sculpture
WoodCarvedTreasures.com represents the talented work of Fred Robledo and Caesar Moran.
Each of our designs was originally hand carved with traditional chisels and tools similar to the methods used by artists within other related fields such as bronze or marble sculptors. However, as in the case of bronze sculptures, a mold is made of the original and duplicates are cast from this mold. A wood carving cannot be cast.
In order to duplicate the original carving, solid wood is cut, glued, and then placed into a manually operated carving machine. Computers and/or CNC operations are not used to create our wood carved designs. Rather, master machine carver Caesar Moran carefully traces the original design while cutting tools copy his movements. Caesar learned his craft beginning in the 1970's under the teachings of his father, Cesar Moran Sr., who was both a master hand carver as well as a master machine carver.
Once carved, the pieces are sanded and Fred Robledo hand details and paints the wood sculptures in addition to designing, manufacturing, and assemblying the "Keepsake Compartments." Developing an early interest in carpentry from his high school wood shop, Fred went on to become a journeyman cabinetmaker while serving in the Marines during the 1970's. Having spent his career in the wood working industry, Fred now creatively uses his talents to blend traditional woodworking with artistic wood carvings using classic air brush finishing techniques which draws out both the beauty of the wood and the realism of the carving.
